Copenhaver to seek reelection

dcopenhaverMARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Berkeley County Council President Doug Copenhaver will seek re-election after all.

Copenhaver said back in September that he would likely not run in 2016, but left himself some wiggle room.

“I always said that if somebody filed that, I felt couldn’t pick up in the direction we were going that I would file,” Copenhaver said during Panhandle Live on Friday.

Copenhaver first ran as a republican and was elected in 2010 when the then three person Berkeley County Commission was expanded to a five person county council.

As of Friday morning Republican and former Berkeley County Commissioner Ron Collins had also filed for the seat.
