Code Orange Air Quality Alert Issued for the Area Due to Wildfires in Canada

WINCHESTER, VA — Millions of people across the eastern United States are dealing with poor air quality, as smoke from wildfires in Canada has drifted over part of the country.
The Virginia Department of Environmental Quality has issued a Code
ORANGE Air Quality Alert Wednesday for Winchester and the eastern
West Virginia Panhandle.

A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution
concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for
sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people
suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and
the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by
avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
