Bunker Hill man pleads guilty after defrauding donors of care package operation

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Berkeley County man pleaded guilty to wire fraud on Thursday for running a for-profit group promoted as helping military personnel.

Christopher T. Engle, of Bunker Hill, was the co-owner of Hearts2Heros, which was promoted as a group that promoted and created care packages to deployed service members.

Engle admitted to defrauded donors, taking almost $287,000 from individuals and using the money for personal use.

He faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
