Berkeley County Sheriffs Office Looking for tips in Cold Case

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — It was first thought to be a suicide, but investigators in Berkeley County are treating the death of a man in 2019 as suspicious and are looking for the public’s help.

Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office are seeking information from the public about a cold case from 2019. On March 31, 2019, Deputies responded to a residence on Jermikey Court in Hedgesville for a reported suicide. Deputies found 49 year old Richard Franklin deceased at the residence.
An investigation into his death and a subsequent autopsy revealed the death to be suspicious in nature.
Investigators believe that there are persons in the community that have information about this death. They are asking that you come forward with that information so that Mr. Franklin’s family can get
closure on this case.
