MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County Board of Education met Monday, March 4th.
Our correspondent Al Gaige put together some highlights, first highlighting local educators who go “above and beyond” in their field. They’re teachers who have submitted to the rigors of the National Board Teachers Certified program. Anne Laskey gave a presentation at the Berkeley County Board of Education meeting Monday night:
Six educators from Berkeley County joined the ranks of Certified Teachers Monday night.
Superintendent Ron Stephens talked about alternative education.
Right now about 300 of those students are enrolled in a Virtual School online. This form of education was developed prior to the COVID-19 epidemic but took on a new life with that challenge.
In other Board of Education news, Director of Facilities and Maintenance Paul Tyson gave an update on Bond Projects.
In addition to heat, the system would provide cooling during the summer months. The next step is to drill test geothermal “wells” at a cost of around $90,000.
