MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A fire at the Argos cement factory on the south end of Martinsburg Sunday afternoon remains under investigation.

The blaze lasted nearly two hours before it was put out around 7:00 that evening. Multiple crews responded from three states.

Argos released a statement Monday saying that the cause was a small explosion in a dust collector.

“Argos is currently investigating the situation to find the cause of the issue. The plant is open, but not currently operational, until we determine the cause of the fire and can ensure the safe start-up of the plant.”  – C.D. Linton, Argos

No injuries were reported. Argos thanked first responders for their response and the community for their support.
