INWOOD, W.Va. — There’s a Public vigil planned for wounded national guardsman and Eastern Panhandle native Andrew Wolfe Friday night at Waldeck field at Musselman High School at 7pm.
Wolfe was critically injured and a fellow guard member killed when they were ambushed last week in Washington, DC.
Connections Community Church Pastor Jordan Butler, one of the organizers, talked about it on a recent visit to Panhandle Live.
“People want to do something to support them and this just creates an opportunity, I believe,” he said.
There is a chance that some of Andrew Wolfe’s family could be in attendance. Butler said it could be “one of the first public showings that the family is going to be there.”
Butler iterated that the family has been consistent in asking for one thing. “They’re not asking for money. They just want prayer,” Butler said. “They want an army of prayer.”
Anyone who wants to send a card or note to SSgt. Wolfe may address it to the following address:
Berkeley County Sheriff’s Dept, 510 South Raleigh Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401. Please address it to Andy Wolfe.
Governor Patrick Morrisey shared an update this week. “Andy remains in critical condition but is stable. Doctors and the family are optimistic about his current progress and note that he has responded to some basic requests such as a thumbs up sign and wiggling his toes.”
“The family continues to ask for prayers during this difficult time,” the governor wrote, adding, ” The prayers are clearly helping.”
