BALTIMORE, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory that began Sunday night and will be in effect until December 30 at 1:00AM EST

West winds OF 20 to 30 mph could gust up to 55 mph. 

The advisory is in effect for portions of north central Maryland, northwest and western Virginia, and the eastern panhandle of West Virginia.

The wind advisory is in effect from  Monday morning through 1:00 Tuesday morning. 

Among the impacts, according to the National Weather Service: 

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.

Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result

Potomac Edison reminds customers as high winds move through the area, stay alert for downed or low-hanging power lines.

The power company warns residents to assume any line could be energized. 

“Stay 30 + feet from the line and anything it might be touching. Use extra caution where lines are tangled in trees or debris,” according to the notice from Potomac Edison.
