GREAT CACAPON, W.Va. — The Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Department had a pretty successful fundraiser for Toys for Tots this Christmas season.

Anyone donating $10 or more got a chance to help read The Night Before Christmas.

Among those reading were some notable community members including the folks from Roy’s Service Center, and in this excerpt:

That was Morgan County Sheriff Johnny Walter, Morgan County Commissioner Sean Forney, Morgan County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Eric Widmeyer, Morgan County Clerk Melanie Shambaugh, County Administrator Misty Klingerman and Heather Spenner from the Pawpaw Volunteer Fire Company.

Other notables Kate Shunney, editor of the Morgan Messenger and Sir Reginald the dog from Morgan County 911 as well as Red from the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company (kind of. They used a voiceover to capture those unique reads.)

The fundraiser garnered just over $900 for Toys for Tots.

Among the community partners represented in the approximately four-minute reading of The Night Before Christmas, Morgan County EMS. Paw Paw VFC, Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, the 167th Airlift Wing, Morgan County 911, South Morgan VFC, Morgan County OES, Morgan County Animal Control, and others.
