CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Highways has issued traffic alerts for road work that begins today in Jefferson County.
River Road, County Route 17/1, from mile point 0.15 to mile point 3.29, in Jefferson County, will be closed to through traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., beginning on Monday, December 8, 2025, to Monday, December 29, 2025, to perform tree canopy cutting operations. Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. Local traffic should expect major delays and are advised to use an alternate route if possible.
Wheatland Road, County Route 340/2, in Jefferson County, will be closed beginning Monday, December 8, 2025, until approximately December 22, 2025, to allow for reconstruction due to the US 340 Project. Traffic will be directed to Lloyd Road and will be able to access US 340 from Withers Larue Road.
