MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Happening now until Friday, the WVRC Media On Air We Care Food Drive continues at area Save A Lots.
Save A Lot stores in Martinsburg and Charles Town will be collecting non-perishable food all week to go directly to the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission.
“We’re probably going to serve around 12,000 meals this month.” Said Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission Superintendent Pastor Tim Guerino. “Every little bit matters, so whatever you can give, please come out and be a blessing to the community.”
The Save A Lot in Hancock is collecting non-perishable food all week to go directly to Morgan County Starting Points.
“Over the summer we were running an average of 100-125 meals a week, but in September and October it’s been closer to 200-225,” said Audrey Morris from Morgan County Starting Points and the Mealtime Community Kitchen. “We’ve seen an increase in the number of children receiving meals as well.”
