BALTIMORE, MD — The National Weather Service in Baltimore has issued a red flag warning for areas east of the Allegheny Mountains to the Shenandoah Valley including the Eastern Panhandle.
The warning from the National Weather Service says, “Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.”
It’s in effect from 11 AM to 6 PM Wednesday. The National Weather Service cites the combination of dry fuels, gusty winds, and low humidity.
Winds will be southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph with relative humidity as low as 20 percent.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
