WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD  – The Washington County Department of Planning and Zoning has made public the 2040 Comprehensive Plan.  The document was released this week according to a press release from the county.

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) officially adopted the plan on August 26, 2025. This long-range strategic document will serve as the blueprint for the County’s growth, development, and preservation efforts over the next 20 years.

It provides an aspirational vision for Washington County’s future and addresses key areas such as land use, housing, transportation, economic development, natural resources, infrastructure, and community services.

The plan is designed to guide decision-making and investments to ensure Washington County remains a thriving, inclusive, and sustainable community for generations to come.
