HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — Twenty -one years ago, a dead baby wrapped in a trash bag was found along the banks of the Shenandoah River in Harpers Ferry.
On March 21, 2004, a Harpers Ferry park ranger found the child wrapped in pink and white blankets with his umbilical cord still attached. Inside the same garbage bag were three 5-pound weights.
Investigators believe the baby was alive when he was placed in the bag and that he had not survived the 60-foot fall after being thrown from the US Rt. 340 bridge.
Community members named the child “Baby Christian” and gave him a funeral and a final resting place.
Advocates say they’re still looking to give him justice during September, which is National Cold Case Month.
