BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The US Drought Monitor this week reported moderate drought conditions overspread the Eastern Panhandle.

According to the report, conditions for Martinsburg, Berkeley Springs, Paw Paw, and Charles Town worsened from Abnormally Dry (D0) to Moderate Drought (D1)

The area in the report has been in drought for the past few weeks, since September 02, 2025.

The Climate Prediction Center’s September Drought Outlook, released on August 31, 2025, predicted that drought conditions would likely develop in September.
