BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A crash Sunday morning in Morgan County claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Morgan County Sheriff Johnnie Walter tells The Panhandle News Network Christopher Vincent Leone, 39 of Hedgesville was riding a 2025 Harley Davidson westbound on Winchester Grade Road behind another rider.
Leone reportedly lost control and left the right hand side of the roadway before hitting the embankment.
The other rider did not realize his riding partner had crashed until he got to Sheetz and realized he was not behind him.
The sheriff’s office says witnesses did not see the crash but told police the motorcycle was traveling at a “high rate of speed” minutes before the crash.
The crash was called in around 9:30 Sunday morning in the area of Winchester Grade Road at Honeycrest.
Morgan County Sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Shambaugh is the lead investigator.
