HAGERSTOWN, MD — A Hagerstown man is in custody following a shooting incident in the city.
The Hagerstown Police Department tells the Panhandle News Network officers were called around 2:30 Sunday morning to the 200 block of West Franklin Street for a shots fired report.
Using surveillance cameras, officers say they found the suspect, Charles Anthony Rodgers, age 38, outside his residence in the same area.
Executing a search warrant in the suspect’s apartment, HPD recovered .45 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with ammunition. The handgun’s serial number was obliterated.
Investigators believe there had been a verbal confrontation between the suspect and another male prior to the shooting. Rodgers aimed the gun at the victim and fired multiple rounds but the victim was not struck.
Rodgers was last reportedly lodged in the Washington County Detention Center.
His charges include

1st and 2nd degree assault

Firearm use in a Felony Violent Crime
Knowingly Alter a Firearm ID Number
