MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A man wanted for failure to appear now faces even more charges in Berkeley County after his arrest Wednesday.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office tells The Panhandle News Network they conducted a traffic stop on 28-year-old Michael Palmer of Martinsburg Wednesday. Palmer was wanted for failure to appear.
Deputy Baldridge found Palmer was riding in a vehicle with his significant other, whom he had been ordered to have not contact with related to a strangulation charge.
During the traffic stop in the area of Good Drive in Martinsburg, Palmer reportedly fled on foot, which prompted “Several Patrol Deputies, CID, VA Police, and Home Confinement Officers responded to the area to locate Palmer.”
Palmer was being monitored by Berkeley County Home Confinement, which helped deputies locate Palmer on the property of the V-A Medical Center.
Palmer was taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with Fleeing on Foot, Obstructing, Battery on Law Enforcement, Bond Violation, Trespassing, Petit Larceny and No Seatbelt.
