HAGERSTOWN, MD — A Hagerstown man is dead after being struck by a vehicle that had driven off the road.

Hagerstown Police say the call came in at 2:40 Wednesday afternoon to the 900 block of Potomac Avenue.

Investigators believe a 2017 Lexus SUV was traveling northbound, left the roadway and struck a pedestrian who was later identified as Albert Sciblia, 55, of Hagerstown. Police say Sciblia had been standing near his parked vehicle, a 2015 Ford F-150 with an attached trailer.

HPD says the 39-year-old Hagerstown woman at the wheel of the Lexus struck both the trailer and Mr. Sciblia.

Sciblia was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, whose name was not released by police, was taken to Meritus Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Hagerstown Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

The results of the investigation will be released to the Washington County State’s Attorney’s Office for review and determination of any applicable charges, according to the statement from police.
