MARTINSBURG, W.Va – On Wednesday, members of the West Virginia State Police, Martinsburg City Police Department, Charles Town Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force, and Potomac Highlands Task Force executed thirteen search warrants on local tobacco and vape stores across Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties.
The investigation, led by Senior Trooper B. F. Gorondy, began in December of 2024 when two traffic stops resulted in the seizure of raw marijuana and an illegal THC vape device which were found to have been purchased from local stores.
With the assistance of the Department of Agriculture, the thirteen locations were developed as selling illegal THC products. As a result of the search warrants, approximately $96,000.00 in U. S. Currency, $700,000.00 in illegal products, four firearms, and two vehicles were seized. The investigation is on-going and will be presented to the respective prosecuting attorney’s offices for criminal charges.
The locations of the search warrants include:
- Martinsburg Tobacco & Vape, Smoking Monkey, Tobacco Hut Martinsburg, RedEye Tobacco/Vape, and Tobacco & Vape Shop in Martinsburg.
- Inwood Tobacco and Inwood Smoke Shop in Inwood.
- Exotic Smokehouse and M&S Tobacco/Vape in Berkeley Springs.
- Berkeley Smoke Shop in Falling Waters.
- University Vape in Shepherdstown.
- Ranson Tobacco/Vape in Ranson.
- Tobacco Hut Charles Town in Charles Town.
