The National Weather Service has issued a weather statement for our listening area.

There is an elevated threat for the spread of fires today through early evening.

The combination of west winds gusting 15 to 25 mph, relative
humidity falling to 20 to 30 percent, and drying fine fuels today
will lead to an elevated threat for rapid fire spread. Locally
higher wind gusts are possible along the ridges.

Although there is not a burn ban currently in place, there are restricted times for burning in West Virginia during the spring fire season. That means outdoor burning is limited to 5:00 in the evening to 7:00 in the morning.

Emergency services in Morgan County suggests folks not do any outdoor burning today, but if they choose to, report it ahead of time to 304-258-0305 and be extremely careful. You must remain with that fire at all times and have a water source available.
