BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — A man wanted for burglary and forgery in Illinois was arrested in Berkeley Springs on Sunday.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched to the 7-11 convenience store on Union Street in Berkeley Springs around 8:30 Sunday night for a report of fraud and counterfeit money. The deputy made contact with a man who identified himself as Zabihullah Enayatulla but investigation revealed the suspect lied about his identity.

He was identified as Khaled Khaleeq, a wanted fugitive from Will County, Illinois where he faced felony warrants for burglary and forgery. Khaleeq, a non-citizen in the United States on a work visa, has been tied to at least one other case involving counterfeit currency in Morgan County with charges forthcoming. Amid that investigation, Khaleeq was arrested as a fugitive from justice, in addition to charges of obstructing an officer and possession of counterfeit money with intent to utter.

He is being held on bond at the Eastern Regional Jail.
