FALLING WATERS, W.Va — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department is Investigating a Homicide
They were dispatched to a home at 45 Wisconsin Lane in Falling Waters February 3rd for a welfare check.
There, they found a deceased male who appeared to have been murdered. Sheriff Blair broke the news on this morning’s Panhandle Live:
The man has been identified as Wilbur Patton Crampton; 54 of Falling Waters. His body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston/
The investigation is underway. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (304) 267-7000 and direct the information to Corporal Dobson.

A press release from BCSD laid out the details:
On February 3, 2025 at approximately 9:49 am, Berkeley County Sheriff Deputies (Deputy Little, Deputy Peck, Deputy Robinson, Corporal McBee, Deputy Dunigan, Deputy Northcraft, Deputy Cox and Sergeant Anaya), responded to a 911 call at 45 Wisconsin Lane in Falling Waters, WV. The caller advised there was a deceased male in the mobile home. Deputies responded and found Wilbur Crampton deceased inside the residence.
CID investigators (Corporal Dopson, Deputy Weidman, and Deputy Giangola) overheard the radio traffic, and responded to the scene.
From preliminary investigation, it is believed Mr. Crampton was murdered.
Investigators are continuing to look into this incident and will attend the autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston, WV.
