BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — There is a correction to the story of a Morgan County father who is facing charges related to severe injuries suffered by his child.

An earlier story that ran on the Panhandle News Network did not accurately reflect the date of the original call to the residence.  Upon speaking to Sheriff Walter, we are correcting the story to say that when deputies were called to the residence January 9th.  Sheriff Walter said, it was “a CPS referral from an incident that did occur on January 1.  A deputy was on the scene briefly on January 1, that deputy reported to me that EMS advised the baby was possibly suffering seizures.”

An individual who was at the residence January 9th related to the Panhandle News Network that during the January 9th visit, the child was not suffering seizures, saying “Deputies DID NOT FIND a seizing baby as the baby had stopped seizuring and in fact okay when they arrived .. The EMT can verify the baby was not suffering a seizure at time of arrival.”

Sheriff Walter, in response to the Panhandle News Network’s request for clarification, said, “When we became involved it was a CPS referral from an incident that did occur on January 1.  A deputy was on the scene briefly on January 1, that deputy reported to me that EMS advised the baby was possibly suffering seizures.  I just read the release that was done and can see how the confusion occurred.”

The original press release from the sheriff’s office, which was shared to Panhandle News Network Tuesday:

On Thursday, January 9th, 2025, Cpl J. T. Hedrick, Morgan County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint regarding a possible child abuse investigation, in Tri-Lake, Morgan County. Morgan County EMS was on scene of a 5-month-old child, who was suffering from a seizure, unknown causes. The infant was taken by EMS to Winchester Medical Center and then transferred to Children’s National Hospital. Cpl. Hedrick initiated an investigation and discovered the infant suffered injury, non-accidental trauma, consistent with “Shaken Baby Syndrome”. Cpl. Hedrick interviewed the father, Aiden L. Holle, for the felony crime of Child Abuse Causing Injury and subsequently arrested Holle for that crime, on Monday, January 13, 2025. Holle is currently incarcerated at the Eastern Regional Jail, on a $25,000.00 cash/surety bond, awaiting trial. The child has since been released from the Hospital and is in protective custody of the State with a foster family.
