CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — Charles Town police say they have arrested a man in the case of what they are calling a “random and unprovoked” attack.

Officers were dispatched in the early morning hours of January 6th to the 400 block of East 1st Avenue for a reported stabbing.
There, they found a male juvenile with a stab wound to the right shoulder area.
EMS arrived on scene shortly thereafter and stabilized the victim for subsequent transport to a local medical facility.

Officers canvassed the area after obtaining a suspect description and located a male matching the description on a porch in the 400 block of East 1st Avenue.

As officers attempted to detain the suspect, identified as Jason Lloyd Lang, age 41, of Charles Town,. Lang reportedly attempted to pull away and was taken to the ground. He continued to resist officers and had to forcibly be secured in hand restraints.
Lang has been charged with malicious assault, obstructing an officer, and resisting arrest. After being cleared by medical staff, Mr. Lang was transported to the Eastern Regional Jail where he remains after being assessed a $25,000 bond by a Jefferson County Magistrate.
The investigation indicates the incident was a random and unprovoked attack.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
