MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Three people were shot in two separate New Year’s Day incidents in Berkeley County, in what the Sheriff’s Department is describing as “large New Year’s Parties.”
The first call came just before 1 a.m. when deputies were called to a shooting at 632 Koonztown Road in Hedgesville. An 18 year-old woman from Martinsburg had been taken to Berkeley Medical Center for treatment of a gunshot wound to the hand.
Deputies learned an altercation had occurred during the party and shots had been fired. BCSD reports there were no other victims in that incident.
Just after 3:30 New Year’s morning, deputies were called to a shooting at 72 Preakness Place in Martinsburg.
Upon arrival, they found one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived on scene and began care for the victim. The victim was then transported to Berkeley Medical Center for further care.
Deputies secured the scene and learned a large fight had occurred and shots had been found. Another victim from that incident had been taken to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown for treatment.
Both victms from the later incident, identified as men ages 19 and 21, were last listed in stable condition.

Deputies secured the scene, and requested assistance from the Criminal Investigation Division. From preliminary investigation, the residence was having a large New Year’s Party. An altercation occurred and shots were fired. No other victims were located.
Victim: 18 YOA White Female from Martinsburg
2.) On January 1, 2025 at 3:31 am, Berkeley County Deputies were dispatched to a shooting at 72 Preakness Place in Martinsburg, WV. Units responded on scene, and discovered one victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS arrived on scene and began care for the victim. The victim was then transported to Berkeley Medical Center for further care. Deputies secured the scene, and requested assistance from the Criminal Investigation Division. From preliminary investigation, the residence was having a large New Year’s Party. A large fight occurred and shots were fired. It was later learned that another victim from the incident was taken to Mertitus Medical Center for treatment. Both victims were last listed as stable.
Victims: 21 YOA Black Male, 19 YOA White Male (unknown addresses)
