BALTIMORE, MD — The National Weather Service in Baltimore has issued a Wind Advisory for the area, effective during most of New Year’s Day.
Among local emergency services advising preparedness, the Washington County Office of Emergency Management says residents should prepare for strong west to northwest winds expected from Wednesday into Thursday as a cold front moves through the region.
West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts around 50 mph are possible.
Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects.
Tree limbs could be blown down and a few sporadic power outages may
result. Highest gusts will likely occur late Wednesday morning
through Wednesday mid-afternoon.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles, according to the National Weather Service, which advises motorists to use extra caution.
Homeowners are advised to secure loose items around their property.
