CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — One man was seriously injured and another arrested after a stabbing incident Sunday, December 1st in Charles Town.
The Charles Town Police Department reports officers responded to the 100 block of Shutter Street for a 9-1-1 call hung up.
While units were responding to the scene, the call was upgraded to a stabbing in progress.

The first officer reports seeing a man walking in the roadway covered in blood, later identified as the suspect, Juan Luis Garcia Aviles, age 33, of no fixed address

The officer then saw a another man, lying in the roadway covered in blood with multiple stab wounds. Officers on scene rendered first aid to the injured man on the roadway. He was then transported from the scene by EMS to an established landing zone and flown to an out of state trauma center.

Responding officers secured the area and contacted the Charles Town Police Department Criminal Investigations Division for assistance in processing the crime scene.
Aviles was charged with attempted 2nd degree murder, malicious assault, and attempted grand larceny.

After being cleared by medical staff at Jefferson Medical Center, Mr. Garcia Aviles was transported to the Eastern Regional where he was last reportedly lodged in lieu of a 100-thousand dollar bond.

As the investigation into this incident continues, additional charges may be filed.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
