MARTINSBURG, W.Va.  — The Berkeley County Board of Education met on Monday.

The board heard from Director of Attendance Hal VanMetre with an instructional update regarding truancy:

VanMetre explained the challenges of the system. It’s a complicated issue that often involves the Judicial System of the County. The Board took no action at this time.

Also at Monday night’s Berkeley County Board of Education Meeting the board heard an informational presentation from Wanda Miller concerning a survey regarding substitute educators: Half of the substitutes consider this a part time job:

Ms. Miller also voiced concerns regarding the software used by substitutes.

Members heard a bond and construction update from Mr. Tyson:

So far, the projects are reportedly running smoothly.
