MARTINSBURG, W. Va. — A Hagerstown man has been sentenced to decades in prison following convictions for two counts of felony sexual abuse and sexual assault as well as other charges.
In a press release, Berkeley County Senior Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joseph Kinser said Dustin Albert Carey, 35, of Hagerstown, Maryland, was sentenced Thursday to twenty to fifty years in prison to be followed by fifty years of supervised release and lifetime sex offender registration.
“Carey’s sentence represents his convictions for two counts of the felony offense of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, two counts of the felony offense of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, and five counts of the misdemeanor offense of Domestic Battery,” according to Kinser, who said the convictions occurred following a three-day trial in 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Michael D. Lorensen’s court.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys Shannon F. Kiser and Raymond E. Boyce, Jr.
Mr. Kinser expressed his appreciation to Cpl. Simerly of the West Virginia State Police for his investigation in the case.
