MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — In a message entitled, “Think Before You Speak,” local law enforcement and the school system in Berkeley County teamed up to put an end to online threats.
Last week, a rash of social media threats that were later discredited caused a disruption to local school systems, closing nearby Frederick County, Virginia schools for a day.
This week, Berkeley County Schools Superintendent Dr. Ryan Saxe was joined by local law enforcement leaders in a video aimed at those who would stoke fears online.
Berkeley County Sheriff Rob Blair says there is no tolerance for threats of violence.

Sheriff Blair says if you find a threat online, report it so it can be investigated.
In introducing the video, Berkeley County Schools writes, “Last week, BCS received numerous threats against our schools that severely disrupted the learning process. While many of these were unfounded, they caused our students, staff, and families to worry about their safety.”
“These threats are not a joke and result in serious consequences. They will NOT be tolerated,” according to the post.
