WINCHESTER, VA — A Berkeley Springs woman died and two passengers were seriously injured Monday in a crash, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. on Route 522 (N. Frederick Pike), 2-tenths of a mile south of Ebenezer Church Road.
A 2003 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling north on Route 522 when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, off the right side of the roadway again, and collided with an embankment before overturning.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Gretchen L. Largent, 85, of Berkley Springs, WV died at the scene.
A 93-year-old male passenger and a 76-year-old female passenger both suffered serious injuries and were transported to Winchester Medical Center for treatment.
Nobody in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation, according to Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, Virginia State Police Public Information Officer
