CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — At Monday night’s Jefferson County Board of Education meeting, Deputy Superintendent of Operations, Joyce White updated the board on Ranson Elementary construction progress:
Mrs. White reports the new Shepherdstown Elementary School is moving forward in a timely fashion, as well as additional projects in county schools:
Mrs. White showed pictures of the floor refinishing at Washington High School as an example of the additional projects that have been completed.
Also at Monday night’s Jefferson County Board of Education meeting, Tanya Dallas, Diversity Coordinator for the system explains the new CUE Advocates program:
The program promises to be very involved in not only the school system but also the greater community. Their next community meeting will be held September 26th at 6:30 online.
In other business, the Board approved financial incentives for Substitute Teachers. They also talked about a partnership with both the YMCA of Frederick County, Maryland and Jefferson County Parks and Recreation. The YMCA proposal is in initial talks so no action was taken on that subject, The Board approved the Parks and Recreation agreement for a park in Shepherdstown.
Later, the Board went into closed session, after which Board President Kathryn Skinner made these comments:
Most of what was discussed was behind closed doors, but they did apparently approve the Superintendent’s goals for the new school year.
