HAGERSTOWN, MD — A Hagerstown woman who failed to appear at a hearing in March has been apprehended in Georgia.

Ashley Franklin, 37, originally faced four charges in October of 2021 for causing the death of her 10 month old daughter:
Child Abuse-1st Degree under the age of 13
Child Abuse 1st Degree – Severe Physical Injury
Involuntary Manslaughter
Neglect of a Minor

On Friday, August 23rd, Franklin was arrested by South Fulton Police Department in South Fulton, Georgia, according to an announcement by the Hagerstown Police Department.

Franklin is currently awaiting extradition back to Maryland.

“HPD would like to thank South Fulton PD, Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (US Marshals), and the Maryland State Apprehension Team (MSAT) for their assistance in the apprehension,” according to the release from the Hagerstown Police Department.
