MARTINSBURG, W.Va – A suspect is in custody in connection with a shooting that wounded four people at a Morgan County party in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Morgan County sheriff KC Bohrer confirmed that Montello DeMarco Scott was arrested on Thursday in Shenandoah County, VA.

Scott was wanted on four counts of malicious wounding after four people were shot at a crowded party on Householder Road Tuesday. Bohrer said earlier this week that large parties like this one, in which people are continuously invited to a location through an app, are becoming more frequent in the area.

“All the parties that we’ve gone to so far, there’s been some sort of violence and it seems to be escalating in danger. Several of the parties that officers have responded to, there have been multiple people there that have had multiple guns,” he said.

Bohrer praised the help of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, Eastern Panhandle Violent Crimes Task Force, WV Fusion Center, FBI, Martinsburg Police Department and Hagerstown Police Department in identifying and locating the suspect.
