CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — There is an update on the progress of a Charles Town police officer who was injured in an off-duty accident on I-81 last month.
On July 22nd, 2024, Corporal Kassidy Noble of the Charles Town Police Department was involved in an off duty, multi vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Berkeley County.
She sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
A go fund me page set up to help with her medical expenses posted an update on Wednesday.
Kassidy has improved enough to be moved to a general hospital room. She will not be on any monitoring equipment. She has started physical therapy to maintain muscle mass as well as give her brain a routine to focus on. This leads us to next steps.
Kassidy is probably only a few weeks away from being discharged from Ruby Medical unless something drastic happens. She will then be placed in a Rehab facility for a few weeks.
It is likely she will then be sent home for a few months to continue her cognitive improvement.
At some point before the new year, Kassidy will have a plate put into her skull. Apparently the delay is normal and ensures all swelling is gone and the brain has returned to its normal position.
At this time Kassidy can swallow and open her eyes. It is unknown how long it will take Kassidy to communicate. Or when she will regain mobility to her right side. We remain hopeful.
Corporal Noble is nearing six years of service with the Charles Town Police Department and is “a respected member of the community and the department,” according to a message from CPD.
“Corporal Noble is a true asset to the department who specializes in investigating child and adult sexual assault cases among other crimes.”
A barbeque fundraiser held July 27th in the parking lot of the Bank of Charles Town for Corporal Noble raised more than $12,000.00.
Those who hope to help can also contribute in person. Donations of cash, gift cards, and cards of encouragement are being accepted at the Charles Town Police Department, located at 661 South George Street, Suite 100, Charles Town, WV 25414.
