HAGERSTOWN, MD — Police in Hagerstown on Friday arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a Waynesboro man late Thursday night.
According to a press release, on 8/1/24 at about 11:00pm, HPD responded to the 300 block of N Jonathan St for a shooting incident. The male victim, later identified as Tyrone Earl Nelson (age 45 of Waynesboro PA) was transported to Meritus Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.
The shooting occurred after there was a dispute between the victim and the suspect who were known to one another. Detectives and the Western Maryland Regional Crime Lab responded to the scene.
The suspect was identified as Brian Anthony Stuart, age 24 of Hagerstown. Stuart was arrested at approximately 2:00am when he turned himself in at the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with

1st & 2nd Degree Assault
Reckless Endangerment
Various Handgun Violations
Stuart was last reportedly lodged in the Washington County Detention Center.
