RANSON, W.Va. — Two sobriety checkpoints are set for Thursday in Jefferson County.
On Thursday, August 01, 2024, from 8:00 P.M. to 02:00 A.M., the West Virginia
State Police along with members from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department
and Ranson Police Department will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint in
Jefferson County. The sobriety checkpoint will be located on West Virginia Route
9, between Currie Road and Wiltshire Road. The secondary location will be in the
8000 block of Martinsburg Pike, Route 45, in the Shepherdstown area of Jefferson
County.
According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police , the primary purpose of the checkpoint is to educate the motoring public about the
effects of driving impaired either by alcohol, drugs, or both. During the
checkpoint, drivers will be checked for any other traffic infractions, as well. This
project is funded through the Commission on Drunk Driving Prevention.
