MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — One day after police say thieves tried to ram a vehicle into a gun shop and a tattoo studio, another breaking and entering happened at a local gun shop.

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department reports they were dispatched just before 5:00 in the morning of July 19, 2024 to Green Monstah Firearms.

“Berkeley County Deputies Heagy, Keller, Hooper, Snapp, Clark and Leake, responded to 1514 Winchester Avenue, Martinsburg, WV 25405 also known as ‘Green Monstah Firearms’ for a breaking in entering in progress” according to a press release from BCSD.

Dispatch reports a subject was seen inside the business when the call came in.

The front door was shattered and the security gate had been tampered with.

When deputies came on the scene, no one was inside.

The investigation revealed two individuals arrived in a black Hyundai Elantra with Maryland tags, which may have been stolen.

Security footage shows the Elantra pulling up in front of the store. “Entry was forced into the business and multiple weapons were stolen. The subjects then left the scene in an unknown direction of travel,” according to the sheriff’s department press release.

“Due to the recent breaking and entering the night prior at 2A Guns, CID was contacted and Deputy Jenkins responded to the scene,” according to the press release. “Upon further investigation it was learned that two subjects were involved and they arrived in a black in color 2015 Hyundai Elantra bearing Maryland Registration. The registration came back to an address in Hagerstown and Maryland Authorities were contacted to go to the address in an attempt to obtain information and ascertain if the vehicle was stolen. MD Authorities advised that they were unable to make contact at the address, however they did advise that they observed broken glass, leading to the presumption that the vehicle was stolen, as it also fit the mode of operation of the recent gun store break in and stolen vehicles the night before.

On Thursday morning, thieves stole two separate Hyundai Elantras and tried to ram one of them into two businesses in Berkeley County. No word if the incidents are related.

Deputy Jenkins of CID and the ATF are investigating this incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Deputy Jenkins at 304-267-7000 or submit an anonymous tip on the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Facebook or Webpage.
