PAW PAW, W.Va. — A planned power outage is underway in Western Morgan County until 4:30 this afternoon. 

We spoke to First Energy/Potomac Edison, who said, “The outage is still happening this morning, as it is due to emergency equipment replacement and cannot be delayed. Crews did as much prep work as possible yesterday to try to minimize the duration of the outage today.”
Morgan County Emergency Services is offering cooling centers for today during the planned power outage – 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Cooling centers are planned for Great Cacapon and Paw Paw Fire Department for 8am-430pm today for those that are affected by the power outage. These shelters will remain open as long as there is public use or until power is restored.

The area is under a heat advisory with heat indexes this afternoon reaching upwards of 105 degrees.
