MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The city of Martinsburg will host a fireworks celebration July 4th, but it will be from a new location off East John Street.

To familiarize residents with the changes, the city released information the week before.
“On July 4, at 9:30 pm, Zambelli Fireworks will be presenting the City of Martinsburg’s fireworks display from a new location on the hill at the end of E. John Street. The public will not be allowed to access E. John Street past the intersection of Oak Street.”

“While this is the City’s first year at this location, some of the sites that folks viewed a smaller December fireworks display from included: PO Faulkner Park; the Caperton Train Station; Adam Stephen House, various areas around Downtown Martinsburg and the Berkeley 2000 Center.”

“We believe this area will allow for more visibility and allows for the display to be set off on City property,” according to the press release, which cautions there is  not a designated or centralized gathering place for viewing the July 4th display as there are various areas where they can be viewed.

“Previously, fireworks were held on private property.  We thank the private owners that allowed the City’s fireworks display to be set off for so long,” the statement from the city says.
