MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s help in tracking down a suspect
they say emptied the cash register and stole cigarettes at the Marlowe 7-11 then fled on foot.
The incident occurred early Tuesday morning. Deputies were dispatched just before 1 a.m.
to the store at 8949 Williamsport Pike.
The suspect is described as a white male, 35 to 40 years of age last seen wearing a hoodie and dressed in black.
Martinsburg Police Department Corporal Condo and K-9 Ryker responded to the scene to track the suspect.
Investigators believe the suspect entered the store about five minutes before 1, walked around the store “for
several minutes” and then went to the counter with merchandise.
“As the clerk rang up the merchandise, the suspect jumped over the counter and pushed the clerk to the side,” according to the press
release. “The suspect retrieved all of the money out of the register and placed the money in his pocket. The
suspect grabbed several packs of cigarettes and then left the store.”
