HAGERSTOWN, MD — The Hagerstown Police Department says two separate incidents occurred in the city over the weekend during which shots were fired into vehicles.

The first occurred June 15th. HPD Lt. Rebecca Fetchu said in a press release around  10:40pm Officers of the Hagerstown Police Department responded to the area of Jonathan St and Murph Ave for a report of shots fired.

Investigators believe multiple shots had been fired from a black sedan at that location as well as in the area  of Jonathan St and North Avenue.

“While investigating, the Washington County Emergency Communications Center advised that there was an unoccupied black sedan on fire on Jameson Dr., a short distance from the shooting scenes,” according to Fetchu, who says investigators later learned the vehicle had been reported stolen out of the city of Baltimore.  They believe the vehicle to be the same one involved in the Jonathan Street area shooting.

“Officers recovered multiple shell casings in the Jonathan St area and also discovered that two parked unoccupied vehicles had been hit by gunfire. There are no reports of gunshot victims,” Fetchu reports.

Both the Hagerstown Fire Department and The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office  also  responded to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire.

On June 16th, a separate incident was reported, according to Fetchu, who reports officers were called just before 10:00 at night Sunday to the the area of the 500 block of West Church Street for a report of shots fired.

Fetchu says officers located numerous shell casings and discovered that unoccupied vehicles had been struck. There are no reports of victims struck by gunfire.

Both incidents are being actively investigated at this time.
