KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. — West Virginia American Water unveiled its new Eastern Operating Area office and operations center Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house in Kearneysville.
Rob Burton is President of West Virginia American Water. He talked about the transition between October of last year when West Virginia Water acquired some Eastern Panhandle utilities, including Jefferson Utilities:
The company’s Eastern Operating Area serves water and wastewater customers in parts of Jefferson, Berkeley and Morgan counties.

The utility acquired around four thousand customers back in October from Jefferson Utilities and other smaller utility companies. Burton says the utility serves as many as 15 to 20 thousand people in the Eastern Panhandle when you consider the ‘persons per household’ figure.
The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce president and board members joined employees of West Virginia American Water and other local community and business leaders to conduct the official ribbon cutting ceremony for the operations center Tuesday afternoon.
