HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. — You could say support for Berkeley County Meals on Wheels is ‘growing.’

Executive Director Dianne Waldron announced this week that Hedgesville High School FFA students had over an acre of farmland donated to them.

Waldron says the students will plant, potatoes, radishes, beets, carrots, and onions and donate the fresh produce to Berkley County Meals on Wheels and the Rescue Mission.

For Waldron, it’s a win-win. “Not only will our homebound Meals on Wheels recipients enjoy fresh farm vegetables, but it will help our food budget,” she says.

Waldron goes on to say with the donation from the Berkeley County School Board of a tractor to the Agriculture Center as well, the students have already plowed the soil.

“These students are amazing,” Waldron says. “Meals on Wheels is honored to be the recipient of their hard work.”
