MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The Berkeley County’s Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect that eluded law enforcement officers in the early hours of Friday Morning.

At approximately 12:24 am on Friday, March 8th, BCSD Deputy Miller was on routine patrol in the 1700 block of Williamsport Pike and observed a black sport bike which was not displaying a registration plate.

Deputy Miller attempted to stop the motorcycle but the driver accelerated in an attempt to evade law enforcement with pursuit reaching Edwin Miller Boulevard and eventually I-81 northbound.       

As units approached the county line, Berkeley County Central Dispatch contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s office and Maryland State police to advise them of the active pursuit which was terminated when the suspect crossed the West Virginia-Maryland border.

The Berkeley County Sherriff’s Department is accepting tips which can remain anonymous and information received will be kept confidential and only used to locate offenders. The tip line is 304-267-7000, option #4

Information is as follows:
On March 8, 2024 at approximately 0024 hours Deputy Miller was on routine patrol
in the 1700 block of Williamsport Pike. Deputy Miller observed a black in color sport
bike not displaying a registration plate. Deputy Miller attempted to stop the
motorcycle but the driver immediately noticed him and accelerated in attempt to get
away from law enforcement. The pursuit went onto Edwin Miller Blvd and then onto
I-81 northbound. As units began to approach the county line Berkeley County Central
Dispatch got a hold of Washington County Sheriff’s office and MD State police
advising them of the active pursuit. The suspect crossed over into Maryland and the
pursuit was terminated.
