MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Former Berkeley County Sheriff Nathan Harmon is withdrawing his bid to get his old job back.
Harmon, who pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor obstruction charge related to an investigation following his daughter’s car crash last year, resigned in December.
Harmon filed his candidacy paperwork in January in the Republican Primary race for Berkeley County sheriff.
On Thursday, Harmon announced on social media that he was ceasing his campaign. In that announcement, he said his family had supported him “100 percent” in his candidacy. He said his family had sacrificed a lot and it was for them he was making the decision to get out of the race.
Harmon confirmed his decision to the Panhandle News Network Thursday evening.
