HAGERSTOWN, MD — A deputy with the Frederick County Maryland Sheriff’s Department was injured during a crash Tuesday morning in Hagerstown.
The Herald Mail reports the crash occurred on I-70 just west of Maryland 65 just before 6 a.m.
The deputy was in a marked patrol vehicle heading eastbound when another vehicle attempted to make a lane change, causing the deputy to swerve to avoid the crash, according to Maryland State Police.
The patrol car ended up in a gully by the tree line. the airbag deployed. The deputy was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
