Berkeley County Sheriff Nathan Harmon
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Berkeley County Sheriff Nathan Harmon says there’s more he’d like to say regarding the recent petition filed by Berkeley County Prosecuting Attorney Catie Wilkes Delligatti that seeks to remove him from office.
“I can only say I’m extremely disappointed how this has been handled and disheartened to say the least with the lack of professional courtesy extended. I will definitely have alot more to say in the near future when my attorney allows it,” Sheriff Harmon said in a response to a Panhandle News Network request for comment.
Earlier this month, the Berkeley County Prosecutor announced she had filed the petition and that the Berkeley County Commission had unanimously voted to do the same.
The petition uncovers new allegations regarding how the sheriff handled the January 6th vehicle accident involving his daughter Carrie and alleged obstruction and false statements during the investigations that followed.
The sheriff has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to four misdemeanor charges and has defended his actions following his daughter’s accident. That case is set to go before a jury in March.
