CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — There have been six scheduled meetings of the Jefferson County Commission during which not enough members attended for a quorum. 
The five-member commission, which currently only four members, has been embroiled in a dispute about what should or shouldn’t be on the agenda for consideration including the appointment of a fifth member. The commission hasn’t had a quorum since Sept. 7.
Commissioners Jennifer Krouse and Tricia Jackson didn’t show up again for Thursday’s meeting. They are in a dispute with Jefferson County Commission President Steve Stolipher.
West Virginia Secretary of State General Counsel Donald “Deak” Kersey says commission is violating the law in delaying the filling of the empty seat.
Without a quorum, the commission can’t legally meet and approve regular business items.
Kersey, who appeared on MetroNews Talkline with Hoppy Kercheval last week, cited state code. He says the fact that there’s a vacancy that needs to be filled compels the commission to meet.
